Dr. Evangelos Kanoulas, an ELLIS Amsterdam faculty, has been appointed professor of Information Retrieval and Evaluation, at the Informatics Institute of the Faculty of Science at the University of Amsterdam (UvA).
Kanoulas has had a very international and diverse career both in industry and academia. Among others, he was awarded an NWO VIDI Grant to conduct research on conversational search engines in 2019. He also co-founded ELLOGON.AI which facilitates an accurate selection of patients for cancer immunotherapy, taking advantage of AI to profile patients based on a biopsy of some cancerous tissue.
