From June 7th to June 9th, the 3rd Annual Hack4Her took place at VU Amsterdam.
Hack4Her 2024, sponsored by ELLIS unit Amsterdam, brought together over 100 participants to promote women-focused tech spaces. Inspiring keynotes tackled gender gaps, intersectionality, and celebrated women’s historical contributions to tech. Hands-on workshops spanned JAX programming, model-based testing, technical interviews, data-driven product development, and cybersecurity. The hackathon catalyzed inventive solutions with participants working on projects targeting workplace gender discrimination, solo women traveler safety via graph analysis, safe walking routes, and enhancing women’s participation in the stock market. The Networking portion was highlighted by a Friday evening borrel, which focused on creating a supportive community, fostering connections, empowering participants, and drinks. This weekend fostered skill learning and showcased young talent, blending the strengths of business and academia.
The event featured several keynote speeches from professionals and academics, each addressing critical issues related to women in tech. The centerpiece of Hack4Her 2024 was its hackathon, which featured four major challenges designed to inspire innovative solutions.
