I am a PhD candidate at the Video & Image Sense Lab, Informatics Institute, University of Amsterdam, supervised by Dr. Iris Groen and funded by a Vidi grant from the Dutch Research Council. I hold an MSc in Brain and Cognitive Sciences from the University of Amsterdam and a BSc in Psychology from the University of Groningen. During my Master’s, I studied emotion recognition in abstract art, comparing human and AI responses, and explored how machine learning can be used to automatically analyse dream reports.
My current research aims at identifying the neural mechanisms of video perception in the human brain. To do this, I am developing a comprehensive large-scale and openly accessible EEG dataset and using deep learning models enriched with brain-inspired temporal integration mechanisms to test which computational principles best explain how the brain processes dynamic visual information.
