Following the continued success of the Qualitative Reasoning (QR) Workshops, the ninth international workshop will be held at the Department of Social Science Informatics (S.W.I.), University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

The Ninth International Workshop on Qualitative Reasoning will be held at the Department of Social Science Informatics (S.W.I.),University of Amsterdam, Amsterdam, the Netherlands from May 16 to May 19, 1995.

Workshop Site Information

The workshop site of the Ninth International Workshop on Qualitative Reasoning will be the Faculty of Psychology of the Universiteit van Amsterdam (address: Roetersstraat 15). All sessions will take place in room A 919, which is located on the 9th floor.

Registration

Registration will take place at Roetersstraat 15 on Tuesday, May 16, from 9.00 - 10.00 am. A name tag and other workshop materials, such as the working papers, will then be handed out to you. The registration desk will be located in the main hall on the ground floor of the A building.

If necessary, you can be reached during workshop hours at the following numbers: + 31 20 525 6789 (telephone) or + 31 20 525 6896 (fax). For calls from Amsterdam, dial the last 7 numbers only. Messages will be left with the organisation.

Accessibility of the workshop site

By plane

Schiphol Airport is located approximately 15 kilometers from the center of Amsterdam. From the railway station located in the arrival building, trains leave every 15 minutes for Amsterdam Central Station. The trip takes 15-20 minutes and costs DFL 5,50. Taxi service is also available and costs approximately DFL 55,-.

By public transport

From Amsterdam Central Station or the hotels booked through Wagonlits Travel, Roetersstraat 15 can be reached easily by subway or by tram in approximately 10 - 15 minutes.

stop 'Weesperplein', exit 'Valckeniersstraat' (enter Valckeniersstraat and you end up in front of Roetersstraat 15).

line 7, stop 'Roetersstraat' (tram stops in front of the main entrance) line 6 and 10, stop 'Sarphatistraat' (turn into Roetersstraat) line 9 and 14, stop 'Zoo Artis' (turn into Plantage Kerklaan; the name of this street changes into Roetersstraat after the first bridge).

By car

It is very difficult to reach the center of Amsterdam by car. We therefore advise you to leave your car at a guarded parking lot at the border of Amsterdam. Please note that these parking places cost approximately. DFL 25,- per day.

From the Hotels

The Botel is located near Central Station. From there, the workshop site can be reached by subway (see under
'public transport').
The Bridge Hotel, located at the river Amstel, is at a walking distance from the workshop site, via Nieuwe Achtergracht or Nieuwe Prinsengracht.
