Current network architectures face increasing challenges:
- More users to satisfy;
- More data to transport;
- More real-time requirements to meet.
Since the beginning of the 2000’s hybrid networks have emerged as new architecture to support different applications. Regular routed paths coexist with dedicate optical circuits (lightpaths), thanks to the technological advances made with Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM).
We research novel ways to optimize the use of dynamic lightpaths to serve in real-time applications (see the Gigaport3 project) or to transport large stream of data (see the CineGrid project).
